Brianne Weaver enters her third season as the head coach for the St. Mary's women's soccer program. Weaver became just the third head coach in the Seahawk women's soccer program's 22-year history on February 9, 2006.

Weaver has been involved with Division I and Division III athletics as both a coach and a player, a unique experience that helped form the basic tenet of her coaching philosophy: "College soccer should be highly competitive and fun." (Click here to rea
d more about Coach Weaver's coaching philosopy).

In her second season with the Seahawks, Weaver guided SMCM to a 6-11-1 over
all record including a 4-3-1 mark in Capital Athletic Conference (CAC) action in 2007.

She kicked off her head coaching career in impressive fashion as Weaver led the Seahawks to a 12-6-2 record in 2006, including the program's first-ever trip to the CAC Championship game. Another first in 2006 was the placement of four Seahawks on the All-CAC First Team, while Weaver coached the CAC Player-of-the-Year in Katie Klotz as well as the CAC Rookie-of-the-Year in Sophia Esparza.

She graduated from St. Mary’s in 2000 with a B.A. in English. At St. Mary's, Weaver played both soccer (1998 and 1999) and lacrosse (2000) for the Seahawks after transferring in from Division I Davidson College, where she played soccer for two years.

Prior to becoming the Seahawks' head coach, Weaver served as an assistant coach at several other top colleges and universities in the region, including Division I Richmond and Division III power
houses: Washington & Lee, York (Pa.), and Mary Washington.

She is an avid student of the game and holds numerous coaching licenses and certificates, including the National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA) Premier Diploma
. Weaver also serves as a member of the Maryland Olympic Development Program (ODP) coaching staff and holds numerous other coaching licenses and certifications from the NSCAA and the Maryland State Youth Soccer Association (MSYSA).

The former Brianne Smithson is married to Drew Weaver '98. The couple lives in nearby Dameron with their
newborn son, Jansen. The Weavers are also owned by their two lovable dogs - Angus, a Newfoundland, and Bodie, a German shorthaired pointer.
