caschmoeller@smcm.edu Carol Schmoeller will enter her second season as the head coach of the women's lacrosse program in 2008. Schmoeller was hired as the tenth head coach in program history on June 19, 2006. In 2007, Schmoeller led the Seahawks to an 8-8 overall record (4-3 CAC) in her first season as a head coach. Schmoeller is no stranger to St. Mary's, having earned her undergraduate degree in human studies in 2004. She then earned her master’s degree in exercise science from McDaniel College in May of 2006. While at McDaniel, Schmoeller served as a graduate assistant for both the field hockey and lacrosse programs under the direction of head coach Muffie Bliss. She has also worked various lacrosse camps across the country. As a student-athlete, Schmoeller led the Seahawks to four consecutive NCAA women’s lacrosse tournament appearances. She was a three-time first team All-CAC selection and a two-time first team All-American (2003 and 2004). She was also a two-year captain; the 2004 Capital Athletic Conference (CAC) Player-of-the-Year; and an NCAA Woman of the Year nominee. Schmoeller graduated as the school’s record holder for assists in a game (8), a season (50), and a career (112). She also holds the school record for total points in a season (100). In addition to her lacrosse accolades, Schmoeller was also a four-year member of the Seahawk volleyball program. She served as a co-captain during her senior year, and at the time of her graduation, she ranked fifth in school history in digs and ninth in kills. |
